The acai berry is a native South American berry, growing predominantly in the rainforests. It is quite perishable and that is the reason why it is present only in preserved forms such as pulps and freeze-dried powders out of the continent. This is a tiny purple fruit, not much larger than a grape, and is filled with antioxidants.
The body processes are collectively known as its metabolism. We all need a healthy metabolism if we need to keep everything in proper working order in the body. However, over time, our bodies get ravaged by substances known as free radicals. These substances can impede the metabolic processes taking place in the body. This can cause problems with overall health, including the proper functioning of the brain.
The antioxidants present in the acai berries (which are mainly plant sterols and anthocyanins) can destroy the free radicals and hence stop their destructive action. With them out of the way, the body's metabolism gets pumped up once again and the wear and tear repair mechanisms begin. Consequently, the person becomes healthier. The brain begins working effectively once again.
Staying on an acai berry diet is definitely good for the brain. Experiments have proven that people who use the acai regularly are free from tensions and worries in their lives. The rates of depression in the native habitats of the acai berry are low. The little acai berry also has beneficial effects for gigantic mental health problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Certainly, this is a berry that's not meant to be considered lightly.
