P.O.R.N. Diets

I am coining this term as I feel some of the diets out there are so radical they need to be discussed in one place.

We here from our favorite celebrities daily and some of us live for this. We follow them on Twitter, talk about them on Bebo and MySpace or e mail each other about them especially when a new diet is talked about.

There have been some over the top radical diets in the past like the 'Air diet', not a very popular one for obvious reasons unlike the 'Chocolate' diet. Then there is the more main stream 'Atkins' diet or 'The Dash Diet' or even 'The South Beach Diet'. All have there plus and minus points and their advocates and nay sayers as well.

The trick when it comes to diets if there is a trick in selecting one would be to thoroughly research the topic. The mere fact that there literally are thousands of diets commercially available shown on television, billboards or even your local Chemist shop.

Here will be many, many articles pertaining to the topic of P.O.R.N. Diets circulating our media and your opinion on them is most welcome. Maybe you have been on one and would like to praise it or maybe warn others away from it. Whatever you may like to share, diet related, please do.

The Secrets Of Fish Oil Supplements

By Freddie Logan

The many health benefits that come from taking fish oil supplements are well known today, but many people do not realize that there is a purity issue when it comes to this substance. The main concern is mercury contamination, but there are other things to consider as well.

Whether you are eating fish fresh to get the oil or are going with a supplement, you need to consider the type of fish used and where it comes from. It turns out fish are not all equal.

Not all fish that are used for oil or as a food source are taken from the fresh ocean as most people assume. There are fish farms now that raise and sell fish to manufacturers. The fish that come from these farms have been tested and it turns out they tend to have more impurities than fish fresh from an ocean.

Different types of fish naturally contain different amounts of mercury and other toxins. This means that the exact type of fish used for your supplement does matter. For example, many people who eat fresh fish will go for salmon over tuna because tuna is known to have higher mercury counts.

Knowing exactly where the fish used for your supplement came from is a big comfort. Cod liver oil is the best you can purchase, but it can run a little higher than some other supplements.

Purity is another issue. Some cheaper supplements are very easy to find through local stores but they are likely higher in impurities and could pose more harm than good. While you don't necessarily have to find one that states it is pure on the label, you do want to do some research into brands and make sure you are buying one that is reasonably pure.

Most people end up taking large capsules that are hard to swallow, but this is not the only option. Liquid form fish oil tends to be more pure, though it doesn't have the most appetizing taste ever. If you really want to ensure you get all of the health benefits possible, go for 100% pure cod liver oil liquid.

If you are concerned about the taste of a liquid form or want to get your children to take it without a fight, consider mixing it into smoothies or milkshakes. Children will not even know it is in there! You can take frozen fruit and juice and add it into the blender for a very simple smoothie that is healthy for everyone.

Fish oil supplements are extremely beneficial to the mental and physical health of children and adults. If you do not eat fish at least two to three times every week, then this a supplement the entire family really needs.
