P.O.R.N. Diets

I am coining this term as I feel some of the diets out there are so radical they need to be discussed in one place.

We here from our favorite celebrities daily and some of us live for this. We follow them on Twitter, talk about them on Bebo and MySpace or e mail each other about them especially when a new diet is talked about.

There have been some over the top radical diets in the past like the 'Air diet', not a very popular one for obvious reasons unlike the 'Chocolate' diet. Then there is the more main stream 'Atkins' diet or 'The Dash Diet' or even 'The South Beach Diet'. All have there plus and minus points and their advocates and nay sayers as well.

The trick when it comes to diets if there is a trick in selecting one would be to thoroughly research the topic. The mere fact that there literally are thousands of diets commercially available shown on television, billboards or even your local Chemist shop.

Many individuals do not have a clue how metabolism works. In order for you to lose weight quicker, your metabolism needs to be increased. By increasing your metabolism your energy level rises which allows your body to burn unwanted fat and calories, with the least amount of effort.

Here is a list of items that will affect your metabolism; frequency of meals, stress levels, diet plans, activity, and the amount of muscle tissue your body has.

Here are 10 home run tips that will lead metabolism to win the game.

1. Increase lean body mass: Age, unfortunately causes metabolism to lower. However, we can place a hold on the effect age has on our metabolism by exercising. Exercising allows us to burn calories and remove excess fat. Therefore, exercising is very essential to metabolism.

With a workout regime that includes weights at least twice a week, you will build muscle mass. In between your workout days include other activity such as walking or swimming. Your additional activities will allow you to continue to burn calories.

2. Daily consumption of breakfast. If you wait to consume food later in the day, your metabolism will decrease considerably. Breakfast is an extremely important meal, however too many people ignore that fact. Look around and you will notice that those who eat breakfast are thinner compared to those who do not.

3. Believe it or not metabolism increases with the help of spicy foods.

4. Sleep more. According to research, people who do not get enough sleep run a greater risk of gaining weight. Also, muscles are regenerated during the last couple of hours of a slumber.

5. Enhance your intake of water. When fat is burned, water helps the body get rid of toxins. Without water the body is unable to function properly.

6. Have smaller meals. Every 2 to 3 hours we need to consume a meal, approximately 4 to 6 meals a day. Remember we are increasing our metabolism so, think healthy meal, not junk food.

7. Do not skip meals. Unfortunately, individuals who are on weight loss programs, think skipping meals will help them lose weight. Wrong. When skipping meals, all you are doing is slowing down your metabolism.

8. Plan meals in detail. Always prepare the right amount of food to have at the given intervals. Do not make the mistake of eating sporadically.

9. Green tea. Green tea is also a friend of metabolism. Green tea boosts metabolism but contrary to coffee, it has no undesirable side effects.

10. Include more energy foods in the diet, such as fruits and vegetables, beans and whole grains.

Achieving the desired body weight is never impossible if you have the determination and patience needed. Remember that eating right and working out are not just a passing fancy, but a lifestyle.
