P.O.R.N. Diets

I am coining this term as I feel some of the diets out there are so radical they need to be discussed in one place.

We here from our favorite celebrities daily and some of us live for this. We follow them on Twitter, talk about them on Bebo and MySpace or e mail each other about them especially when a new diet is talked about.

There have been some over the top radical diets in the past like the 'Air diet', not a very popular one for obvious reasons unlike the 'Chocolate' diet. Then there is the more main stream 'Atkins' diet or 'The Dash Diet' or even 'The South Beach Diet'. All have there plus and minus points and their advocates and nay sayers as well.

The trick when it comes to diets if there is a trick in selecting one would be to thoroughly research the topic. The mere fact that there literally are thousands of diets commercially available shown on television, billboards or even your local Chemist shop.

Here will be many, many articles pertaining to the topic of P.O.R.N. Diets circulating our media and your opinion on them is most welcome. Maybe you have been on one and would like to praise it or maybe warn others away from it. Whatever you may like to share, diet related, please do.

How to Lose Weight fast

By J Hunter

We all think we can lose those stubborn 10 or 20 pounds very quickly if we just starve ourselves for a few days. Even though it has taken years to put on the weight, you want it off now. We must be realistic about the time we need to do it in a healthy way. If you approach weight loss the right way, not only are you going to lose weight fast, you will keep it off.

The first questions to answer is how much you weigh and how do you normally eat during one day. Weigh yourself in the morning before eating and dressing and enter that weight with the date in you notebook. Ask your doctor what a good weight is for your age and frame. Look on any chart on the Internet or a nutrition book to find out how many calories you need to consume. Your BMR or basal metabolism rate is found on an interactive chart which asks for your weight, gender, and age. Your rate is then calculating and you are given a number of calories that your body needs just to function.

Begin at the beginning. Ask yourself the important questions and use a journal to keep track of your answers and future progress. On day one, enter your morning weight (before dressing or taking your breakfast) and your height. By checking one of the many BMR (basal metabolism rate) charts you will be able to determine how many calories your body needs to maintain. Of course, you will not want to maintain, but to lose weight. Ask your doctor what he thinks of your plan and how he may be able to give you some tips.

The first day may be frustrating as you drag your notebook around jotting down every morsel you consume, but you must. If you are like most people, you forget that half of brownie or that small handful of nuts. You remember meals, but often forget the tartar sauce, the extra butter on the noodles and the nibbling you did while preparing the meal.

Check out the BMR chart and find that for your current weight you need to maintain with 1427.3 calories per day. That's what it takes for you to support life and normal breathing and sleeping activities plus moderate movements.

Look at the BMR chart and jot down the number of calories that you need to maintain your body weight. Since you will to lose weight and not maintain this weight, start by subtracting a number that will make your total calories no lower than 1200. You must eat 1200 calories for your metabolism to function properly. Lower consumption interferes with metabolic rate. You probably see that this is a slow process when you limit calories only.

The best you can do will involve an increase in your activity level. It is just a matter of math and burning more calories than you need for maintenance. One half hour of walking will use 150 calories. Other activities are figured by the time you spend doing each kind. The more you burn calories, the faster you lose your unwanted weight.

When you don't take all the numbers into account, you lose track of knowing what you ate that you didn't burn and you can determine how many calories you sent to fat storage. This is not a pleasant thought, so burn what you consume.
