P.O.R.N. Diets

I am coining this term as I feel some of the diets out there are so radical they need to be discussed in one place.

We here from our favorite celebrities daily and some of us live for this. We follow them on Twitter, talk about them on Bebo and MySpace or e mail each other about them especially when a new diet is talked about.

There have been some over the top radical diets in the past like the 'Air diet', not a very popular one for obvious reasons unlike the 'Chocolate' diet. Then there is the more main stream 'Atkins' diet or 'The Dash Diet' or even 'The South Beach Diet'. All have there plus and minus points and their advocates and nay sayers as well.

The trick when it comes to diets if there is a trick in selecting one would be to thoroughly research the topic. The mere fact that there literally are thousands of diets commercially available shown on television, billboards or even your local Chemist shop.

Here will be many, many articles pertaining to the topic of P.O.R.N. Diets circulating our media and your opinion on them is most welcome. Maybe you have been on one and would like to praise it or maybe warn others away from it. Whatever you may like to share, diet related, please do.

Diabetes Can Be Prevented Among Obese Children

By Patsie Adams

Diabetes is a growing epidemic, especially in western countries. And diabetics are getting younger too. One reason is the growing number of obese children whose bodies are being strained to the point of affecting insulin production.

This health problem for the obese child begins early and can cause diabetes to erupt when they become adults. This is why adults getting diabetes are getting it at a younger age. It is no longer just a disease for the older set.

Because of unhealthy diets and inactivity, overweight children are needlessly taxing their young bodies.

Being overweight is not the sole reason for the health threat. That's just a symptom. What contributes to the threat of diabetes is the abundance of bad carbs and sugar and the overall unhealthy lifestyle.

It is urgent for obese children to change their unhealthy lifestyle because diabetes is a major health risk. With a lifestyle change diabetes can be prevented. For those who already have it - changes can even reverse the disease.

Pancreas abnormalities lead to Type I diabetes - also known as juvenile diabetes. This version of the disease is unavoidable for some people.

In the case of Type II diabetes, much can be done for its prevention. Just by eating healthy and exercising moderately you can avoid Type II diabetes all together. It is extremely rare to get this type of diabetes among those who are active and healthy.

People who have type II diabetes can usually reverse it by following a healthy diet that cuts out simple carbohydrates. It is foods high in certain types of carbohydrates that contribute to the development of diabetes. Eliminating these kinds of carbs can make a drastic difference.

Major health improvements can be gained by improving diets. This change alone can normalize blood sugar levels. Eventually, pills or insulin shots won't even be needed.

Note that an obese child may not be showing signs of diabetes - yet the health risk is still there. Diabetes creeps up over a length of time, and it creeps up alongside an unhealthy lifestyle.

Obese children who eat too much simple carbohydrates like flour and sugar, are at particular risk for diabetes later on. Large amounts of glucose are released into their blood stream after they eat all that sugar and carbs. Young bodies are so efficient, that they work overtime to eliminate the excess glucose. This is done by releasing large amounts of insulin.

Over time, the large amounts of insulin released into the blood stream can damage the vessels and arteries. Eventually the body becomes resistant to the effects of insulin, just as a person can be resistant to antibiotics or other drugs.

When insulin-production is affected, the body is no longer able to regulate blood sugar normally. This is when pills or insulin injections are needed.

The diabetes menace for the obese child may take time to develop. If major lifestyle changes are not made, an obese child faces a future of serious health problems. Diabetes will be a major threat.
