P.O.R.N. Diets

I am coining this term as I feel some of the diets out there are so radical they need to be discussed in one place.

We here from our favorite celebrities daily and some of us live for this. We follow them on Twitter, talk about them on Bebo and MySpace or e mail each other about them especially when a new diet is talked about.

There have been some over the top radical diets in the past like the 'Air diet', not a very popular one for obvious reasons unlike the 'Chocolate' diet. Then there is the more main stream 'Atkins' diet or 'The Dash Diet' or even 'The South Beach Diet'. All have there plus and minus points and their advocates and nay sayers as well.

The trick when it comes to diets if there is a trick in selecting one would be to thoroughly research the topic. The mere fact that there literally are thousands of diets commercially available shown on television, billboards or even your local Chemist shop.

Here will be many, many articles pertaining to the topic of P.O.R.N. Diets circulating our media and your opinion on them is most welcome. Maybe you have been on one and would like to praise it or maybe warn others away from it. Whatever you may like to share, diet related, please do.

6 Pack Abs - Competing Langhorne Theories

By Dan Solaris

Time and again, expert studies have shown that total body cardiovascular exercises are most effective in eliminating excess body fat. There's no way to bring out the striations and contours of the abdominal muscles to show a 6 pack unless the belly fat is reduced enough.

It's a well-known fact that a combination of body-building exercises and cardiovascular workouts are the most effective in developing the muscles and facilitating fat loss at the same time. Since there are two types of cardio exercises, the question here is which type is the best for getting 6 pack abs?

Cardiovascular exercises can be done at low intensity and high intensity. The latter is more popular as a method of losing fat and getting 6 pack abs because first, it's easier to do. The physical effort in doing low-intensity cardio exercises can actually be done by novice exercisers and people that are extremely overweight.

Low intensity cardio exercises have also been discovered to burn caloric energy from fat stores as opposed to high intensity cardiovascular workouts that keep the heart at 90% of the maximum. The latter burns more calories obviously, but some of it comes from glycogen already.

The stored form of carbohydrates in muscle tissue is known as glycogen and it is needed in proper muscle formation. In losing weight and getting 6 pack abs, it is important to maintain as much muscle as possible because it helps keep the body's metabolism high.

On the other hand, high intensity exercises burn loads of calories even if done for just 10-20 minutes. This means considerably less time can be spent in the gym and proponents say the lost glycogen can just be replaced anyway by eating carbo-rich food after working out.

Some experts argue that although they're more difficult to do, high intensity exercises in fact build more muscle tissue because of the hard effort. They also kick the metabolism up to high levels and keep it going hours after a person has stopped working-out.

There are two different opinions when it comes to cardio exercises- both with pros and cons. Low intensity exercises have to be done for longer periods and this means more hours spent in the gym. High-intensity cardio workouts can have you out of your sweaty clothes in half an hour but they're not for beginners, elderly and the extremely overweight.

Langhorne Exercise Videos - Are They Better Than E-books?

By Jose Loni

Are exercise videos better than e-books? Technology has advanced so much in the past few years with email, e-books and anything internet-related. Despite that, exercise videos are easier to access and better than e-books. They're also more dynamic and interactive and allow us to accurately go at our own pace with simple steps and great visuals - something that an e-book can't do.

Remember the Jane Fonda exercise video craze? Or how about Suzanne Somers? And who can forget Richard Simmons?

Nowadays, there's belly dancing, pilates, yoga, tae bo the list goes on. No doubt exercise videos have made their mark on us that's why they are still around.

It is more motivating to exercise when there aren't any obstacles to discourage us. That's why exercise videos are better because they are very accessible. No technological issues to deal with. Just pop in and play the video anytime you're ready.

Exercise videos are also better because they're more interactive and dynamic. Exercise moves set to fun music by attractive trainers keep viewers' interest high and inspire them to achieve their goals.

Then there are those who are still trying to get used to the routine of a workout. For many, the exercise movements may be awkward especially for those who are overweight. Some can't get into the positions, while others can't last the number of sets required. Others are self-conscious and embarrassed to show up in their camouflage workout clothes as compared to the regular lulu lemon gym rats.

That said, there are the social butterflies who like the interaction they get in gyms. They prefer real time feedback from their instructors and look for encouragement and support from their peers. In fact, the setting inspires them to achieve their goals.

And so, the pros and cons of exercise videos have been laid out. We love their no-trouble, low maintenance quality, low cost and privacy options, but we do have to consider the lack of social interaction aspect of it. We need to evaluate our preferences in order to make the perfect choice for our lifestyle.

Langhorne Trainers on Fast Abs Workout - Think Stability

By Dan Solaris

There is statistical evidence that more than half of the populations of first world nations are overweight. Blame it on the hectic exercise-free lifestyles and the extremely efficient food industries in those countries. Calorie-rich fast-food that lacks fiber and other nutrients has become a staple for most people living in the big cities of the world.

The number of potbellied, love-handled people who have taken-up arms in the war against body fat has gone up. Because of lack of proper knowledge and technique however, the number of people who start fitness programs only to give-up a month or so after is going up as well.

Crunches and sit-ups are the most common exercises that figure-conscious people do to develop their abs. Doing these exercises on a flat, even surface is usually the norm, but there's a way more effective method of doing a fast abs workout and that is exercising the core muscles with the use of round or unstable surfaces.

Giving the core muscles a fast workout using an exercise ball or a balance plank is still quite uncommon across the world, but it's arguably the most effective in conditioning the abs. Having strong core muscles enables the body to be more stable and have more balance.

Our spine has a natural curve to it and doing ab exercises flat on the floor or on a bench clearly limits our torsos range of motion when we're doing crunches or sit-ups. Using a soft, curved medium like an exercise ball enables more muscle movement, resulting in more physical effort and more calories burned.

A test using electromyography was done to determine the difference between normal flat-bench crunches and sit-ups to ones done on a curved surface. The results were clear- a way higher percentage of muscle fibers of the midsection were being utilized in core exercises on a curved, unstable surface.

Doing abdominal exercises on an unstable surface also makes your workouts more efficient because more muscular effort is done trying to balance your body. Other muscles of the core, like the transverse abdominis is used to provide stability- resulting in more calories burned and a faster ab workout.

Employing the use of unstable surfaces also makes exercising more less boring. The more fun workout sessions are, the easier it is for people to stick to them and eventually get the results they want in less time.

10 Easy Tips to Explode Your Metabolism

By Thong M. Dao

Many individuals do not have a clue how metabolism works. In order for you to lose weight quicker, your metabolism needs to be increased. By increasing your metabolism your energy level rises which allows your body to burn unwanted fat and calories, with the least amount of effort.

Here is a list of items that will affect your metabolism; frequency of meals, stress levels, diet plans, activity, and the amount of muscle tissue your body has.

Here are 10 home run tips that will lead metabolism to win the game.

1. Increase lean body mass: Age, unfortunately causes metabolism to lower. However, we can place a hold on the effect age has on our metabolism by exercising. Exercising allows us to burn calories and remove excess fat. Therefore, exercising is very essential to metabolism.

With a workout regime that includes weights at least twice a week, you will build muscle mass. In between your workout days include other activity such as walking or swimming. Your additional activities will allow you to continue to burn calories.

2. Daily consumption of breakfast. If you wait to consume food later in the day, your metabolism will decrease considerably. Breakfast is an extremely important meal, however too many people ignore that fact. Look around and you will notice that those who eat breakfast are thinner compared to those who do not.

3. Believe it or not metabolism increases with the help of spicy foods.

4. Sleep more. According to research, people who do not get enough sleep run a greater risk of gaining weight. Also, muscles are regenerated during the last couple of hours of a slumber.

5. Enhance your intake of water. When fat is burned, water helps the body get rid of toxins. Without water the body is unable to function properly.

6. Have smaller meals. Every 2 to 3 hours we need to consume a meal, approximately 4 to 6 meals a day. Remember we are increasing our metabolism so, think healthy meal, not junk food.

7. Do not skip meals. Unfortunately, individuals who are on weight loss programs, think skipping meals will help them lose weight. Wrong. When skipping meals, all you are doing is slowing down your metabolism.

8. Plan meals in detail. Always prepare the right amount of food to have at the given intervals. Do not make the mistake of eating sporadically.

9. Green tea. Green tea is also a friend of metabolism. Green tea boosts metabolism but contrary to coffee, it has no undesirable side effects.

10. Include more energy foods in the diet, such as fruits and vegetables, beans and whole grains.

Achieving the desired body weight is never impossible if you have the determination and patience needed. Remember that eating right and working out are not just a passing fancy, but a lifestyle.

Bucks County Experts on Fat Loss - Joint Stability For Better Results

By Dan Solaris

The fast-food culture has conquered most of the globe and the world's inhabitants are succumbing to the tasty, mouth-watering drive-thru fare that just so happens to be dripping with LDL cholesterol (yes, the bad kind). Fortunately, there are a gauntlet of exercises proven to combat the surplus of caloric energy stored in love-handles and bouncing bellies.

For fat loss, it's a proven fact that any exercise combined with cardio sessions brings relatively faster results. Still, plenty of people get bored with conventional routines and find it a challenge to keep working-out consistently. The key to speedy fat loss is constant exercise, so going about it in a half-hearted manner will not yield significant results and cause further loss of motivation.

The effectiveness of the Pilates method for fat loss is relatively unknown to the general public, but it just might be the solution to the frustrations of 'physically challenged' masses. Pilates is a low-intensity system of exercises which focuses on the center muscles or the core of the body where most body fat is concentrated.

Pilates exercises can also be light enough to be able to help elderly fitness buffs and those with minor injuries stay in shape. After just a few sessions, one will notice a significant improvement in the body's flexibility, posture and mental alertness.

Cardio combined with strength training is the most common exercise program prescribed for fast and effective fat loss. Incorporating Pilates sessions with these will improve fat-burning efficiency of your workouts even more.

Weight training is essential in a fat-loss program because building muscle improves our metabolism. Resistance training causes stiffness to connective tissue and the joints however. This is where Pilates can come in- the smooth and continuous movements stretch the muscles of the whole body and this regains the lost suppleness lost from lifting weights.

The focus of Pilates exercises, the core muscles, incorporate the abdominal, lower back buttocks and oblique muscles on our sides. Working these out all in one time means more physical effort, more calories burned, more fat lost in less time. A strong core means a more solid foundation for the body and thus better balance and resistance to sprains and injuries.

A raised metabolism is one of the best weapons for keeping of excess weight because a larger amount of calories are burned. Constantly stretching the body's muscles causes them to be leaner, allowing a faster metabolism and a less flabby physique.

Weight Loss Research on Tonalin CLA

By Jane Moore

Tonalin CLA supplements are getting some very positive support from a number of respectable resources. Like many, I struggle with an extra 15 pounds. I really require some sort of outside help to get me motivated. In the event that Tonalin CLA doesn't work out for me then very little is lost. It's enough to get me interested in trying them for a month or two.

What I have read so far is impressive to say the least. The two most interesting reports have come from two research universities in North America. One university is Canadian and is located in Guelph, Ontario. The other university is American and is located in Wisconsin. Both of the research studies claimed that Tonalin CLA really works.

The Canadian study was conducted first and was based out of the University of Guelph in Ontario. The study was conducted in November and December and was particularly focused on monitoring the potential weight change over the Christmas holidays. It was an eight week study and studied 60 over weight adults. Thirty people took a CLA pill everyday while the other thirty people took a placebo pill. The results were simply remarkable. The CLA group lost weight in the time period leading up to the holidays and didn't gain any weight over the holidays even when they didn't exercise and ate loads of holiday treats. The placebo group gained some weight leading up to the holidays and then gained even more weight over the holidays.

Impressed by what they heard out of Canada, a group of researchers from the University of Wisconsin tried to repeat the Canadian results and were entirely successful. The American study used forty overweight adults and they studied them for six months including the 8 weeks used in the Canadian study. The participants in the American study also claimed to have lost fat from their belly region when they took daily a CLA pill. The cardiovascular experts were delighted with this extra result as belly fat can lead to heart disease which is a deadly threat to their patients.

Both the Canadian and American studies made sure that all of the subjects had the same amount of daily exercise. The studies also made sure that all of the participating subjects consumed approximately the same amount of calories per day. By controlling diet and exercise, the scientist could make sure that it was the CLA pill that was responsible for any changes.

I tend to look at the authors of research publications when deciding if the research is credible. In this case professionals at two respectable North American Universities conducted the studies. This means a lot to me. I am going to start taking Tonalin CLA and continue with my regular diet and exercise.
